The 2013 Fantasy
Football Season is nearly here. But before you can trash talk your friends,
scour the waiver wire for the next fantasy gem, and win a championship, you
have to get prepared for the Draft. Bik Nizzar will get you ready for the
upcoming fantasy season as The Extra Period unveils its Fantasy Football Overall
Rankings.
Thanks for reading the positional ranks this week.
Finally I get to the end and see how the positions mesh together to create the
overall draft board that I believe will bring you success. This will be
changing as we get closer to Week 1 so check back for updates. With injury news
& position battles things can change quickly. The overall ranks are a
reflection of what I spoke about in the Draft
Guide. I’m not going to address the tiers here because you can see
how the rankings shape up with the emphasis on RB’s early (20 in the top 40)
and rather than having to refer to the previous posts for the positional ranks,
I’ve listed each players positional rank next to their name. I’ll address some players who
offer great value for their current draft position in a feature coming next
week called “Progression/Regression”. Below the ranks are some details for the
current spots. Without further adieu the 2013 Fantasy Football Overall Ranks:

Despite advocating the heavy emphasis on RB’s early, I did
list a few non RB’s in the top 20. Because there reaches a point once you get
past the first stage of RB’s where the value to reach for the next RB at an
early stage of the draft doesn’t match up what you can acquire in other
positional needs. Is it ideal? No – but you have to remain flexible come draft
day if things don’t go to Plan A. However the top 10 are all RB’s and I think it’s
imperative to grab 1 of them before anything else.
Player Notes:
- Percy Harvin is still listed high despite the news yesterday of a labrum tear in his hip. The team is seeking a 2nd opinion on his condition early next week. Should he require surgery he’ll slide down the list substantially but as it stands, if he’s able to play through it I’ll remain high on him since he is a fierce competitor and did play through injuries during his time in Minnesota.
- I’ve lowered Jimmy Graham’s stock a bit down to a 3rd Round grade because as it stands I think Gronk will be ok for Week 1, so the advantage at the TE position lessens a bit. As Week 1 approaches Gronk could find his way up a bit.
- Around Round 5 a huge influx of QB’s start to go into the ranks, but not before As I talked about in the Draft Guide, if you can maximize your RB/WR depth in the first few rounds, this is where the best value lies for grabbing a QB. Kaepernick, Wilson, Romo, Stafford all should be on the board when you pick in this range.

We started to see the WR Depth late in the first 6 rounds
but we see it even more here. The high upside players that will get some usage
extend all the way into Round 9-10 whereas the RB’s at this stage are relegated
to RBBC (Running Back By Committee) and backups. Also the first D/ST's were
posted in this list, and although I’m a proponent of them being drafted in the
2nd to last round, the risk in value of drafting them here is
mitigated if you think you want an elite one.
