Bik's Week 6 Picks: Delayed

Clearly by know you know that the Mayans have predicted the world to end in December 2012. Just for a second, let’s assume that what the Mayans predicted is true. Then shouldn’t this be the perfect time to savour and bask in the glory of some of the best events life can offer? Except what’s happened in the past little while:

Felix Baumgartner has delayed his Stratosphere jump. NBC delayed the season premiere of “Community”. And finally, and probably most depressing, the NHL has delayed the start of the regular season.

In the spirit of that – this feature is a day late and delayed as well. So maybe the Mayans were right. I mean – why else would Arizona be 4-1. Or the Packers 2-3? Or the Eagles 3-2 with a -19 point differential? OR ALL OF THE NFC WEST ABOVE .500! OH NO END OF DAYS END OF DAYS!!!!

Home team in CAPS.
Steelers (-6) over TITANS
Titans won 26-23 on Thursday night.

BROWNS (+2.5) over Bengals
This is basically Cleveland’s only chance for a WHILE to get a win. They get Joe Haden back which will be great for trying to slow down AJ Green. With home underdogs dominating as much as they have this year, I’m going with the Browns just because if they can’t get up to win this game, they might go 0-16.

Colts (+3.5) over JETS
I’m not convinced by the Jets even after that Monday night showing and I’m not going against this Colts team when they’re motivated by the ChuckStrong movement.

Chiefs (+4) over BUCCANEERS
Last week I wrote: When you hear the words “Brady Quinn” and “might start” – you immediately take the other team no matter the line. These are just rules of life.” Well Brady Quinn IS starting this week, so why am I taking the Chiefs? Because Matt Cassell has been awful so the drop off to Quinn won’t be as exaggerated - and I think the Eric Winston reaction after last game will rally the Chiefs. Plus you know, The Bucs shouldn’t be more than 3 pt favourites vs. anyone.

FALCONS (-9.5) over Raiders
The Raiders are 0-8 against the spread the last 8 seasons coming off a bye. This time they only have to go into an undefeated teams building with a potent passing attack. As Morgan Freeman would say: “Good Luck.”

Cowboys (+3.5) over RAVENS
I get it – Tony Romo was terrible last time we saw him. But the Cowboys still put up yardage against the Bears, and 14 pts were off pick 6’s. Cowboys Pass D has been incredible so far this year and they might be able to force Flacco (who isn’t as equally as hilarious as Romo has been but is on that same type of career trajectory just without having the Star on his helmet) into a mistake or 2. More than a Field Goal might be too much here.

Lions (+3.5) over EAGLES
Coming off the bye will help the Lions big time to sort out some problems. Most notably giving the ball to Calvin Johnson in the red-zone. Plus with the Eagles just handing the ball over multiple times a game it’s going to give the Lions extra possessions.

DOLPHINS (-3.5) over Rams
The Rams looked good vs. Arizona last week on Thursday night. But being at home on a short-week with a travelling team is different than having to go to the East Coast vs. a team that actually has a offensive line and can run the ball. Plus no Danny Amendola means this passing attack just became paltry.

SEAHAWKS (+3.5) over Patriots
Anything more than a field goal for the Seahawks at home is too much. I don’t care if the best offensive team in the league that is churning yards right now. Weird things happen in games like this. You know, like officials making things up and giving touchdowns for interceptions. And the game is in the Pacific Northwest and forecast for Sunday? Surprise surprise.... Rain.

Bills (+4.5) over CARDINALS
A top 5 defensive line on paper vs. a offensive line made of paper. I think the Cardinals finally showed their true colours last week and we’ll finally see the Bills front 4 play like they should. Now mind you, if they don’t get up for this game, you can pretty much write off the Bills for the year.

Vikings (+1.5) over REDSKINS
There is zero reason why RGIII should be playing in this game. I know you want to be competitive but you traded so much to get him, and you’re going to run him out 7 days after getting a concussion. I don’t care if it was a mild one, and he practised this week. It’s week 6 in his rookie season. Spare him.

49ER’S (-6.5) over Giants
Revenge game for the 49ers and they get to have it at home. Plus the Niners are just mauling everything in site. I know the Giants pass-rush is fierce but you can’t fall behind to this san Fran team like the Giants did against Cleveland. If they go down 10 it might be over.

Packers (+3.5) over TEXANS
Rodgers in a dome and I’m getting more than a field goal? Sure – I’ll take it. The loss of Brian Cushing will have some impact on the Texans especially since this was a short week for them and the 1st game without Cush.

CHARGERS (Pick ‘em) over Broncos
The Chargers had to play Roger Goodell last week instead of the Saints. I know it’s the rule, but that’s a soft-call on that would be pick 6 that would have ended the game. And then the officiating on the final drive was just horrendous. Chargers get another chance on prime time to amend it.

This Week: 0-1
Last Week: 7-7
Season: 39-37-1
